There was a lot of hype over Apple’s new wireless Airpods back when they first announced their release. People had mixed reactions ranging from people thinking it was awesome to others saying out right that it looked dumb and wasn’t worth the money. Just recently, Raycon launched new wireless headphones on Kickstarter for around $30 more than the price of Apple’s Airpods . So if you are considering buying some wireless headphones, how do you decide between these two?

Airpods are great because they are simple to use with your i-device. However, they have limitations on where you can wear them depending on what device you have. They aren’t water-proof or sweat-proof so not good for exercising. Their simple, single button design also creates issues in handling phone calls where you have to mute the call just by removing them from your ear.

Raycon, on the other hand, has a better fit for active people. They are waterproof and sweat proof so you can use them when working out or running in the rain. You have extra buttons to handle phone calls, volume controls and play/pause music without having to take your phone out of your pocket. It also comes with a charging case that can top up your Raycons when they run out of power which is only possible if you use Apple’s Airpods for an hour before needing to recharge it.

In terms of sound quality, there isn’t really much difference here since both companies use similar technology from Sony . This also means because of this similarity in bluetooth technology , there aren’t going be too many differences in sound quality. Bluetooth technology is still limited in what you can do with it, like having better quality sound when listening to music over bluetooth compared to wired.

Both companies are only trying out the wireless headphone scene so there could be some improvements over time but for now, Raycon provides more features than Airpods which makes it a better choice if you need something that will last you longer than just 1–2 years using Airpods .
